The European Shoulder Association of ESSKA
ESSKA is one of the world’s most renowned and largest societies in the field of sports/orthopedic and trauma surgery. At this year’s congress in Milan, more than 4,400 colleagues from around the world met for scientific exchange and lively discussion of current treatment options.
Since its foundation in 2010, the ESA has seen steady growth in membership and is now one of the internationally renowned societies in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery. The association has set itself the goal of bringing together expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery as an international group of experts in order to establish international guidelines through joint scientific discussion and research work, thereby ultimately improving the care of our patients.
Future goals of the ESA
Prof. Martetschläger lists the following points as the ESA’s goals for the coming years:
„The ESA is committed to the training and further education of young colleagues in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery, so that courses and fellowships are offered regularly to promote young talent. Further goals for the next two years include the publication of a textbook on shoulder instability and several scientific articles on the treatment of rotator cuff injuries. The ESA’s active participation in the ESSKA certification program in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery is also on the agenda for the coming years.“ For further information and details of ESA activities and events, please visit the following website and read the welcome message from the chairman:
